home theater components, projection tv screen    Home Theater Components

I have what you would call an old school home theater system. Most of my home theater components are at least 15 years old and haven't been updated for the new technology. I have a 60"projection television, a 5.1
surround sound, and an old DVD/VCR player. I did have cable, but wanted to save on our monthly budget so got rid of it. However, I do have a laptop computer where I watch all my favorite shows, and movies, online.

With this in mind I set out to connecting my laptop to the home theater components. It really wasn't that difficult, and with a few notebook accessories, was done pretty quickly. To connect the laptop I found a
computer to TV adapter and used a S-video cable to connect it to my projection television. Once the video was connected, I ran an audio cord from my headphone jack on the laptop to my surround sound receiver.
Surfed over to my favorite television website and transferred the picture to the projection TV screen. The picture wasn't as clear as a full out HDTV, but it was good enough to enjoy!
